Effect of biomass ash on preventing aromatization of olefinic cracking products in dual fluidized bed systems

In this work, the effect of ash activated olivine on olefinic products cracking and aromatization was assessed. The experiments were carried out in Chalmers 2–4 MWth dual fluidized bed gasifier, where feedstock cracked using steam as fluidization agent, at a reaction temperature ca. 780–790 °C. Three activation states olivine, representing three consecutive days campaign, evaluated. changes permanent gas composition along with reduction aromatic species time exposure to biomass demonstrate clear conversion products. clearly promoted reactions involving steam. As consequence, higher yields gases, mainly H2, CO CO2, produced expenses total compounds C4 hydrocarbons larger. It is concluded that promotes reforming path larger hydrocarbon fragments, while avoiding alternative route. results presented here provide useful insights opportunities limitations materials DFB systems when linear feedstocks, e.g., polyolefin-based materials.
